Betty Bar was born in Shanghai in 1933. She has spent more than 50 years in the city. She and her husband wrote a book titled "Shanghai Boy, Shanghai Girl," narrating stories from their childhood in China during the 1930s and 1940s. "We feel that many Westerners don't know much about China," she said.
