The Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K), the group taking responsibility and being blamed for the suicide bombings at Kabul's airport, are behind a surge in attacks spanning three countries. ISIS-K are indiscriminate in their attacks, targeting Taliban, Afghan government and American forces. The threat of ISIS-K also prompted Washington in 2017 for the first time to drop the most powerful conventional explosive in its arsenal.
