Japan has suspended the use of 1.6 million doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, following reports of contaminants in some vials more than a week ago. That comes as the country is rushing to vaccinate its population. Authorities are also seeking to expand a state of emergency to cover nearly half of the country's 47 prefectures, after a surge in new cases.
