If you want to rent a house in urban Beijing, Siheyuan, a traditional courtyard house might not be your first choice. For many people, it is a no-go as it lacks modern amenities and is often too expensive. But that may no longer be the case, as passion for ancient culture, nostalgia and the desire for consumption upgrades is driving more people to rent such properties. Wang Xinru, a young lady working in a real estate agency, is one of those who has recently rented part of a courtyard in downtown Beijing and redecorated it according to her own tastes.
