The Pentagon said there was only one suicide bomber involved in Thursday's Kabul attack, correcting its earlier assessment that there were two bombers and two separate explosions.
"I can confirm for you that we do not believe that there was a second explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, that it was one suicide bomber," Army Major General William Taylor told reporters.
Briefing media on the current situation, the U.S. military also said that 5,400 people inside Kabul airport are still waiting to be airlifted.
