Biden talks with Israeli PM after Afghan bombing delays evacuation
03:08

U.S. President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett have met for the first time at the White House to reset relations after rising tensions. The meeting on August 27 came as Biden grapples with the aftermath of attacks at the Kabul airport on August 26, amid the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan. High on the agenda was Iran's nuclear program. Israel has long opposed Biden's efforts to restore the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Biden told Bennett during talks that he was putting "diplomacy first" to try to rein in Iran's nuclear program but if negotiations fail he would be prepared to turn to other unspecified options.
