The United States carried out a military strike in Kabul targeting a possible suicide car bomb that was aiming to attack the airport on Sunday, Reuters reported citing two U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The officials told Reuters that they were citing initial information and cautioned it could change.

The U.S. strike report came after reports a residential area near Kabul airport was hit by a rocket. It's not immediately clear if the incidents are separate or connected, due to scarce information.
