A passenger on a taxi filmed a brief standoff between a wild Siberian tiger and the vehicle on August 16 in northeast China's Tiger and Leopard National Park.

The tiger started to walk along the road towards the vehicle before turning back and disappearing into the forest.

A number of sightings of the endangered big cat have caught public attention in recent years.

In April, a tiger wandered into a village in Heilongjiang Province and injured a local resident. The animal was captured and later released into the wild.
