19th CPC Central Committee to hold sixth plenary session in November

The sixth plenary session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee will be held in Beijing in November, according to a decision made at a meeting of CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau on Tuesday.

President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting. 

According to the agenda unveiled Tuesday, the CPC Central Committee's Political Bureau will present its work report to the plenary session, which will study the issue of comprehensively reviewing the major achievements made and the historical experiences accumulated during the Party's 100 years of endeavors.

Tuesday's meeting also deliberated on a report on the seventh round of the disciplinary inspection launched by the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Strengthening education reform

The meeting said that the CPC Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi at the core, attaches great importance to educational development and significant progress and changes have been made in educational reform and development.

Acknowledging the Party officials' achievements in school running, and serving economic and social development, the meeting pointed out that there are still shortcomings in strengthening grassroots Party building.

It called for improving supervision and strengthening the role of inspection tours to promote the high-quality development of higher education in the new era.

Calling moral education the fundamental task, the meeting stressed efforts to cultivate the builders and successors of socialism with a comprehensive moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding and a hardworking spirit.

The meeting also called for comprehensively implementing the new development concepts and serving and integrating into the new development pattern by adapting to the requirements of the new era.

It also stressed the need to strengthen the supervision of the operation of power and the investigation and punishment of corruption to deter officials from becoming corrupt.
