Afghanistan could descend into another "civil war" due to the West's irresponsible and disorderly withdrawal from the country, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi warned Wednesday.

The minister criticized the rush to withdraw a wrong and dangerous option in the interview with Sky News. "That's an option of abandonment of Afghan people," he stressed.

The mistake was already committed in the 1990s, he said, adding that he "would urge the international community not to repeat the same mistake again."

The consequences of repeating such mistakes "could lead to a civil war," he continued.

He also warned of the potential "anarchy" in Afghanistan and a resurgent threat of terrorism on its territory due to the West's exit strategy.

"Things could become chaotic, there could be anarchy, and that will give space to the organizations we all dread: the international terrorist organization that we do not want their footprint to grow in Afghanistan," said the minister.
