01:02

At least 60 people were killed as a result of bad weather caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida in the northeast of the United States, according to media reports on Thursday. Images and videos circulating on social media showed cars submerged and water pouring into subway stations in New York City. The southeastern state of Louisiana, where Ida first landed, suffered power outages and water shortages. The storm left hundreds of thousands of people without air conditioning and refrigeration in sweltering summer heat.
