Democracy can't be imposed by force in Afghanistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on Friday.

Putin said the western way of so-called "civilization" of other nations is wrong and its purpose is to control these countries under the pretext of promoting democracy.

When asked if Moscow would recognize the Taliban government, the Russian president said that there would be no political force to talk to directly if Afghanistan breaks up as a country.

He also called for joint efforts to decide about "legalizing" a political force there.
