A COVID-19 case reported in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Saturday is very similar to an imported case at a local quarantine hotel on September 4, a health official said Sunday.
The infected person is a 42-year-old female who works for a quarantine hotel. All of the close contacts of the infected person have been quarantined and showed negative results for nucleic acid tests.
Genome sequencing revealed the COVID-19 case was highly similar to an imported case on September 4, said Chen Bin, deputy director of the city's health commission, at a press briefing.
"Community transmission of COVID-19 remains low," Chen said.
Saturday's positive case was found during a routine test, according to the official.
