American gymnast Simone Biles shocked the world at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics recently when she withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics competition, citing mental health concerns.

In June, tennis player Naomi Osaka withdrew from the French Open, also citing mental health issues.

With two prominent elite athletes going on the record on the international stage saying they are pulling out of an event for their personal health and well-being, the issue of mental health among the world's elite athletes has become a hot topic in many quarters.
