China's first self-operated, 1,500-meter deepwater gas field, known as Deep Sea No.1, was put into full production on September 6, according to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). Eleven development wells have been deployed in the east and west areas of the field, with the western area having started production on June 25. Deep Sea No. 1 is expected to supply three billion cubic meters of natural gas to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Hainan each year.
