Economy ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have met online to discuss the pandemic. The region is facing serious economic challenges as rising infections affect businesses. Malaysia and Thailand have already reopened many economic sectors despite a raging outbreak caused by the Delta variant. Experts say this is by far the biggest challenge ASEAN has faced since the Asian financial crisis 23 years ago.
