UN warns of 'urgent imperative' to avoid acute food insecurity in Afghanistan

The UN is warning that Afghanistan could run out of food by the end of the month. The non-profit Borgen Project says a majority of the population relies on subsistence farming. And floods, drought and conflict have destroyed farmland. The UN's World Food Program estimates over half of the population live below the poverty line.
