The Chinese mainland is facing a new outbreak in its southeastern Fujian Province, driven by the Delta variant. Nineteen new local cases have been confirmed in the city of Putian and one in Quanzhou City.

The central government has dispatched a working group to guide the prevention and control efforts. Mass testing has also begun in Putian.
