Mahamat Saleh Annadif, the United Nations special representative for West Africa and the Sahel, said on Monday that the people of Guinea should decide the duration of the post-coup transition period in the country.
"We have said: we want a reasonable duration, but the reasonable duration depends on the Guineans themselves," he said during a one-day visit to Conakry, capital of Guinea, adding that the UN had condemned the coup and called for the release of Guinea's President Alpha Conde.
