00:46

On the morning of September 10, the China Three Gorges Group released largemouth bronze gudgeons into the Chishui River, a tributary of the Yangtze in Guizhou Province and part of a national nature reserve for rare and endemic fish. Some 169,900 largemouth bronze gudgeons over 5cm long were released into the Chishui River. Largemouth bronze gudgeon (coreius guichenoti) are found only in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Experts say that if these fish reproduce, then the restoration of the ecological system in the Chishui River will have a chance. In this way, they say, problems of species protection and biodiversity can be fundamentally solved.
