The Chinese mainland recorded 73 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 50 cases of local transmission of the virus in its southeastern Fujian Province, the latest data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

In addition, 16 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 386 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland to 95,413, with the death toll unchanged at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,148 (11,854 recoveries, 213 deaths)

Macao: 63 (63 recoveries)

Taiwan: 16,098 (13,742 recoveries, 839 deaths)
