Earthquake kills three in SW China's Sichuan

A magnitude-6.0 earthquake jolted Luxian County of Luzhou City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, at 4:33 a.m., causing casualties and collapse of some houses.

The number of injured has reached 100 from Thursday's earthquake, the local emergency department said. 

The death toll remains at three.

Apart from the three deaths, at least 88 people are injured during the earthquake, including three criticality, local government said. 

Some 1,221 houses were flattened and over 23,000 houses damaged.

As of noon, 3,212 people were urgently transferred and resettled by local authorities and further disaster assessment are ongoing.

Meanwhile, local power grid is being repaired.

The death toll from the earthquake has climbed to three, according to the Luzhou municipal government. 

Tremors have been felt in Chengdu City and Chongqing Municipality.

At least two people were killed and 60 others injured, including three seriously injured, after the earthquake. A total of 6,904 people have been relocated. 

According to the local government, 188 houses were seriously damaged.

Two people were killed and three others injured after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Luxian County in Luzhou City, southwest China's Sichuan Province at 4:33 a.m. on Thursday, local authorities said.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers, and its epicenter was monitored at 29.2 degrees north latitude and 105.34 degrees east longitude, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

Luzhou City has launched a level-one emergency response, the highest in China's four-tier system and deployed disaster investigation and rescue officers. Provincial authorities have initiated a level-two response.
