Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov said on Thursday that the two countries will work together to fight terrorism to safeguard regional safety and stability.

In a meeting with Wang in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, on the sidelines of a series of meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Zhaparov said Kyrgyzstan is devoted to comprehensively developing bilateral relations with China.

Both sides should work together to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism, and face global challenges such as cybercrime, cross-border crimes, and drug-related crimes, he said.

Wang said as neighbors of Afghanistan, China, and Kyrgyzstan should work to prevent external forces from copying the chaos of Afghanistan in Central Asia.

China will continue to support Kyrgyzstan in its fight against COVID-19, and encourage Chinese investment, to help contribute to Kyrgyzstan's economic recovery and improve people's livelihood, said Wang.
