The Chinese mainland recorded 80 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. 49 cases were of local transmission from the virus, mostly in the southeastern province of Fujian, this was revealed in the latest data from the National Health Commission.

In addition, 13 new asymptomatic cases were recorded, while 373 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

This brings the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Chinese mainland to 95,493, with the death toll remaining at 4,636.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 12,149 (11,858 recoveries, 213 deaths)

Macao: 63 (63 recoveries)

Taiwan: 16,103 (13,742 recoveries, 839 deaths)
