A film festival is a carnival for cinephiles as many old and classic movies are shown. As part of this year's Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), over 300 films will be put on screen in 31 cinemas from September 17 to September 30.
Besides Beijing, moviegoers can also visit Tianjin and Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province to watch the films. This year marks the first time that the BJIFF has chosen cinemas to show films outside of Beijing. The official program of the 11th BJIFF will be held for nine days from September 21 to 29.
Different sections based on various themes have been set up, including"Restored Classics," "Women's Voice" and "Animation."
This year, the BJIFF has set up three special sections. The "BJIFF SPECIAL: Celebrating the centenary of the Party" will showcase 15 films about the history of the the Communist Party of China in the past century.

"BJIFF SPECIAL: Go Winter Olympics" will provide moviegoers with films about the development of ice-sports in China.

In the "BJIFF SPECIAL: Retrospective of Gong Li, President of Tiantan Award Jury" section, people will see representative works of Gong Li, the president of Tiantan Award Jury at this year's BJIFF.

Due to the passage of time, many old movies no longer meet the technical standards for playback. With the help of modern repair technology, worn-out images in old films can now be restored. In the "Restored Classics" section, movie fans have the chance to see works including "Mulholland Drive," "The Godfather Part III" and "An Autumn Tale." In the "Tribute" section, classic films like "Le Salaire de la Peur" and "Les diaboliques" will grace the cinema.

Animation fans will have chance to watch films made by Ghibli, including "One Piece Film: Z 2012" and "One Piece Film: Strong World 2019." In the "Women's Voice" part, "Ninjababy 2021" and "Hard Love 2021" will be shown.
