WHO chief arrives in Afghanistan to discuss humanitarian aid

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus arrived in Afghan capital Kabul on Monday to meet with acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, TOLO News reported.

During the meeting, the WHO chief said the organization will continuously support Afghanistan's healthcare system and prevent the country from falling into a humanitarian disaster. The WHO will promote the unfreezing of assets that the international community has donated to Afghanistan.

"Protecting the health of the Afghan people is of the utmost priority for @WHO. We will visit health facilities meet with @WHOAfghanistan staff, health workers, and Taliban leadership on these vital issues," Tedros tweeted on Monday.
