The Qiantang River in east China's Zhejiang Province is known for the world's largest tidal bore. The trumpet-shaped river mouth, which connects with the East China Sea, causes gigantic tides as high as nine meters. Every year on the eighth month of the lunar calendar, people gather along the banks of the river to witness the impressive sight.
