An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck near Melbourne at 9:15 a.m. local time in Australia on Wednesday, GeoScience Australia said.

The quake was at a depth of 10 kilometers and was near the southeast coast of Australia.

Melbourne and the capital Canberra have felt the tremor.
