Posters of Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Games unveiled
The posters for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics were released at the Beijing Design Week Opening Ceremony on Wednesday to further raise public awareness for the Beijing Winter Games scheduled for February 2022.
Three sets of official posters and 11 promotional pieces featuring elements of winter sports and Chinese culture highlight the Beijing 2022 motto "Together for a Shared Future."
After a yearlong selection campaign and rounds of thorough discussion and deliberation, 11 masterpieces were finally chosen as the official public posters out of nearly 1,600 submitted pieces. Each set of posters consists of one winter Olympic and one Paralympic poster. According to Wan Qiange, a designer at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts whose masterpiece was successfully chosen as a public poster, each designed poster wishes to express a meaningful message.
"The image is derived from the symbol of Beijing 2022 and the color is also from the abstract image of the Games, while the athlete is a representational image. They bring abstraction and representation together," said Wang.
The 11 sets mainly come from young designers and showcase their unique perception of the upcoming Beijing Winter Games.
"I am really impressed with the designs from the youngsters," said Chen Ning, chief of culture activities for the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee. "Their vitality and passion for the upcoming Winter Games enable these public posters to play a vital role in promoting the 2022 Beijing Winter Games."
The organizing committee hopes to maximize the use of the Winter Olympic posters to encourage more people around the country to be involved in this important occasion.
