China firmly opposes the Taiwan region's accession to any official agreement or organization and any form of official exchanges between the region with other countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Thursday.

Zhao made the remarks after the island said it had applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, Zhao stressed.
