Leaders of the United States, Japan, India and Australia held their first in-person meeting of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) in Washington, D.C. The two-hour meeting covered a range of issues, from COVID-19 vaccines to trade, technology and security issues to climate change. It ended with a joint statement calling for "rules-based" behavior in the Indo-Pacific region. China has said the Quad resembles a clique reminiscent of the Cold War era.
