Construction of the world's first desert-railway loop line is complete. The 825-kilometer-long Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway surrounds the Taklimakan Desert in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, linking the city of Hotan with Ruoqiang County in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang.
