Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the role of the United Nations (UN) with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, at a virtual meeting on September 27. Wang said China, as a firm supporter and contributor of the UN cause, will continue safeguarding the UN Charter, the UN-centered international system and the UN's role in international affairs. Also, he echoed Guterres, saying China opposes any action or rhetoric that provokes a new Cold War.
