Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday extended congratulations on the 72nd founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC), hailing the close cooperation and friendship between the two ancient civilizations.

As China celebrates its 72nd birthday, "we share joy with our Chinese friends," Abdollahian said in a tweet written in Chinese.

"China's achievements deserve unreserved applause. We cherish our friendship with China," the diplomat added.
