Team China will play against Team South Korea on October 2 in the semifinals of the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2021 following an impressive performance that placed the top-ranked Chinese team in the semifinals.

Australia had to work hard to earn their ticket to the final four with a win over New Zealand, 72-61.

In the other semi-final on October 2, Japan will play against Australia, while Chinese Taipei will play against New Zealand in the fifth/sixth classification match.

The 16 participating teams for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments have also been confirmed.

Australia, China, Japan and South Korea have secured their places in the Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments next February after making it to the Asia Cup semifinals.

Nigeria and Mali also earned their spots in the qualifying tournaments by advancing to the FIBA Women's AfroBasket finals.

Apart from the four Asian and two African teams, the Women's World Cup 2022 qualifying tournaments will also feature the top four sides from the FIBA Women's AmeriCup and the top six teams from the FIBA Women's EuroBasket, including the U.S., Puerto Rico, Brazil, Canada, Serbia, France, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Russia.

The qualifiers will take place between February 10 and 13, 2022, with the draw to be announced later in November. The Women's World Cup 2022 will take place in Sydney from September 22 to October 1, 2022.
