Libyan authorities have carried out an "anti-drug" crackdown in a rundown suburb of the capital Tripoli, resulting in the detention of 4,000 migrants, hundreds of women and children included, AP reported, citing officials.

The attorney general, in a statement, said Friday's day-long sweep targeted "properties exploited in organizing illegal immigration" and the trafficking of drugs, alcohol and firearms.
