The United States has reached another grim milestone in the fight against COVID-19. The number of deaths due to the coronavirus has topped 700,000. The death toll is larger than the population of Boston. Driven by the fast-spreading Delta variant, the U.S. lost 100,000 lives in the past three-and-a-half months. The New York Times reports the vast majority of those had not been vaccinated. Only 3,000 had been identified as having the shot, so far. An estimated 70 million eligible Americans remain unvaccinated.
