Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors received the COVID-19 vaccine, making him eligible for home games at the Chase Center, said Steve Kerr, the team's head coach on Sunday.

"Andrew got vaccinated. He just told me today that he was fine with us acknowledging it and that will be the end of it. I'm not going to answer any questions beyond that," said Kerr.

The NBA could not mandate players to get inoculated because the Players' Association rejected the proposal. Till last week, about 10 percent of the league's players remained unvaccinated, including Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets and Wiggins.

Unlike the NBA, the San Francisco Department of Public Health requested that anyone above 12 (12 included) be fully vaccinated before attending indoor events. Wiggins tried to apply for exemption raising religious reasons, but the league turned him down.

As a result, Wiggins was only able to participate in Media Day online. If he misses all 41 homes games, he may lose over $15 million of salaries. However, that did not seem to change Wiggins' mind back then, and he added: "It's none of your business, that's what it comes down to. It's my problem not yours."

The Warriors can't afford to lose Wiggins if they want to make a difference in the new season. Klay Thompson won't come back until Christmas, and he has not played any game in over two years. Thanks to his size, athleticism, and improved 3-point shooting, Wiggins is the best replacement for Thompson the Warriors can have in the wingman position.

Even if they want to send him away, the Warriors will sound more confident bargaining trade if Wiggins can play in any game.

Neither Kerr nor the team specified which vaccine Wiggins received. However, considering that the Department of Public Health gave a deadline of October 13, it may be the Johnson & Johnson shot.

"We're done. It's happened. That's all anybody needs to know. We can talk about practice or games," said Kerr.

The Warriors are challenging the Los Angeles Lakers first in their season opener on October 19 before returning home to host the Los Angeles Clippers two days later.
