Japan's new prime minister Fumio Kishida held his first press conference on October 4, describing China as hugely important since it's Japan's largest trading partner. He said Japan will continue discussions with Beijing.

Meanwhile, Kishida also promised to take more actions to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
