The United States likes to think of and portray itself as a champion of free markets. However, the U.S. Commerce Department recently called for global semiconductor companies to "voluntarily" submit sensitive and confidential business information to Washington by November 8. In today's episode of BizBeat, CGTN's Michael Wang argues that it seems likely the move aims to benefit American companies and American industries at the expenses of global companies.
