China's manned deep-sea submersible Fendouzhe, or "Striver," has entered service, according to an October 5 statement released by the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It successfully completed its trial dives in November 2020, after touching multiple times the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on Earth.
