More than 20 people were reportedly wounded following a magnitude-6.1 earthquake which jolted the Japanese capital Tokyo and surrounding areas on Thursday evening. No tsunami warning has been issued, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

Many train services including some bullet trains as well as subway lines in the capital were suspended following the temblor.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters late Thursday he had ordered officials to help quake victims and prevent further damage.
