The crested ibis is an ancient species. In 1981, there was only seven crested ibises living in the depths of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province. Over the past 40 years, with the efforts of the Chinese government and people from all walks of life, the global population of the crested ibis has surpassed 5,000.
