One person was killed and three are still trapped after the tunnel of a gold mine became flooded with mud in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local authorities said Sunday.

The incident took place at around 7:00 p.m. Friday in the mine located in Taibai County, the local publicity department said.

A search and rescue mission is ongoing.
