Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China's total commitment to strengthening biodiversity and tackling other key environmental issues. The country has pledged to inject $233 million to establish the Kunming Biodiversity Fund. Zhu Chunquan, the head of the China Nature Initiatives and Tropical Forest Alliance at the World Economic Forum Beijing, said China will establish a protected areas system with national parks as the mainstay.
