The President of Latvia, Egils Levits, has tested positive for COVID-19 after a rapid antigen test, his presidency said on Thursday.
The "Latvian president has tested positive for COVID-19 (rapid test). Meeting with Estonian president postponed. Alar Karis is meeting with the Speaker instead. President Levits will take additional PCR test later today," the Chancery of the President of Latvia tweeted.
A meeting with his Romanian counterpart, originally scheduled for October 15-16, was also canceled due to the positive test result.
Meanwhile, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto, who "had a discussion" with Levits at an event in Malmo, Sweden on Wednesday, will self-isolate as a precaution, the Finnish presidency said.
