Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a virtual meeting with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Thursday.

Wang hailed the momentum of China-Indonesia relations and closer pragmatic cooperation between the two sides, as guided by the consensus between the two countries' leaders. He stressed the importance of high-level dialogues in advancing the China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership toward building a shared future that benefits both peoples.

Currently, the task at hand for the two countries is working together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, Wang said, noting that China welcomes Indonesia's purchasing of Chinese-made vaccines and supports Indonesia in the construction of a vaccine production center.

Wang said that China is willing to promote cooperation in vaccine research and pharmaceutical ingredients production between the two countries' enterprises, while fighting together with Indonesia against attempts to stigmatize countries over COVID-19 and politicize the virus origins tracing.

Wang expressed hope for the two countries to further deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation, including the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, the regional comprehensive economic corridor and key projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.

China places great importance in strengthening cooperation with Indonesia in fields such as infrastructure, digitalization, 5G and green economy, while making maritime cooperation a new growth area for the mutually beneficial exchanges between the two sides, he added.
