Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday that only when countries develop together can there be true development, and only when countries prosper together can there be true prosperity.

President Xi also stressed that we should leverage the enabling role of transport and increase related input in poor regions, so that local economies and people's lives can improve as a result of better roads.

Xi made the remarks in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference via video link in Beijing.
