A fire broke out on Monday in the sulfur removal unit of the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery in Kuwait, resulting in some minor injuries, the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) said.

"A number of minor injuries and cases of suffocation as a result of inhalation of fumes occurred among the contractor's workers," the company stated on social media, adding that all affected are in good or stable condition.

The refinery and export operations have not been affected by the fire, the KNPC said.
