Sea buckthorn, also known as sandthorn or seaberry, is a kind of shrub whose fruit is known for its richness in vitamin C. China's output of sea buckthorn fruit accounts for 90 percent of the world total, and it thrives in China's northwest regions. The fruit can be used to make pies, jams, lotions, liquors or beverages. It is also thought to have medicinal value for the nutrient and phytochemical constituents. CGTN's "Into Xinjiang" crew visits a sea buckthorn farm in Habahe County, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to see what's happening during the harvest season and how the industry helps local farmers shake off poverty.
